Our Blog: C'est Complique
Welcome to our blog, “C’est Complique”!
Last year when sitting down with a brand strategist, she was asking me various questions about who I am and what I represent. My answer to 99%o of her questions—from my personal story to building IVORY B to raising my son in Brooklyn to how I got to the pizzeria where we were seated— was “c’est complique"—it’s complicated. There was no straight answer to anything she wanted to know about me, my process of becoming an entrepreneur, etc. etc. C’est complique!!
It was and is still true! My life is nothing but a string of complicates stories, and even moreso as an African woman from Ivory Coast and Gabon, raised in Paris, recently living in NYC and having to navigate the English language while married, raising a toddler, working, and now building a business. After going back and forth on what I want IVORY B Bag to be about for over 3 hours in that restaurant, the strategist and I had to look at each other and LAUGH: the complicated story IS the language I speak best, the world I come from and the narrative with which I am most familiar. That’s the story I want to tell with Ivory B Bag!!! I want to share with other women the ups and downs of complicated stories and especially how we can thrive with them. It’s #thewayyoucarryit.
This blog will be pieces of IVORY B. is all about. We’ll share our complicated stories from life in NYC and in travel, as well as inspiring content we find online that perfectly illustrates the idea of who we are, and hopefully speaks to who you are too.
IVORY B. celebrates multicultural woman on-the-go who is more than familiar with the complications of life— be it with her personal story, her multicultural heritage, the business she’s building, the events she encounters day by day-or all of the above. We’re all about how she balances all of these, staying fly and inspired while inspiring others along the way.
We want to highlight and celebrate not only simplifying the complications but also just going with the flow however they present themselves, whenever they occur—and of course however we carry them.
Looking forward to sharing these stories, this space with you! Thank you for reading!
